jdpl worked closely with Creative Agency, Hill + Knowlton Strategies and adidas UK to produce and manage ‘snackable’ content for adidas’ Instagram. The roll out of the shoot was part 1 of a 3 part series of short films, including peer to peer interviews with premier league footballers Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus. 

Often football players are criticised for their flashy lifestyles, the money they earn and off pitch distractions, however, ON A LEVEL proves this stigma isn’t true, showcasing the player’s main focus and passion is football. The two players open up about things that truly matter to them and the fans. From dealing with celebrity status at a young age, to the isolation and loneliness involved when trying to break into the team, the importance of family and how they deal with the pressure when things get tough.

The establishing shots show a real life set with lights dotted around in the background, creating the scene whilst maintaining realism. As the day winds down the players take a seat next to one another after a long day of promo work.  A mixture of static and hand held footage gives the film a high production feel without the content becoming too ‘set up’. The beautifully inquisitive long lens shots gives the players space, suggesting the audience are catching a glimpse others do not get to see; listening in on a conversation rather than a staged interview.
